
El Dorado County, CA.- Authorities have released the identity of the teen who was killed in El Dorado County when a truck lost control of its trailer and hit a Jeep on Highway 50 Sunday evening.
Sergio Gutierrez Garcia, 18, of Woodland, was the victim who died in the two-vehicle collision that left four others injured and caused major damage to both vehicles, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.
The incident was reported at around 7:15 p.m. on November 23, 2025, on Highway 50 at Sierra Pines Road, just east of Camp Sacramento. Garcia was riding in the right front passenger seat of the Jeep at the time of the accident and was declared deceased at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol reported that a 32-year-old Lathrop man was driving a Ford F-250 pulling a 32-foot fifth-wheel travel trailer westbound on Highway 50. The driver lost control and the trailer drifted into the eastbound side, where it collided with the front of an eastbound Jeep Compass.
The 37-year-old woman driving the Jeep and a 6-year-old boy in the vehicle sustained minor injuries. A 13-year-old boy in the vehicle suffered moderate injuries while the fifth occupant, a 16-year-old boy, was hospitalized with major injuries.
The South Lake Tahoe CHP Office is working to determine what led up to the collision.
