According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place in the area of Cameron Park Drive and Meder Road in Cameron Park on Tuesday, July 7.

El Dorado County, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle at an intersection in El Dorado County on Tuesday.

According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place in the area of Cameron Park Drive and Meder Road in Cameron Park on Tuesday, July 7.

Preliminary reports indicate that a black Kia was traveling northbound on Cameron Park Drive when it drifted into the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian,  who was also headed north. It’s still unclear why the driver swerved into the sidewalk.

The impact sent the pedestrian into a drainage ditch and the victim sustained major injuries.

The victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment and the victim died at the hospital. Authorities reported that the pedestrian was an adult but their age or gender were not specified.

The driver involved in the collision stayed at the scene and was cooperative with the investigators.

No further details on the accident were provided. The collision remained under investigation.
