Marana, AZ.- Edwin Alexander, 53, has been identified as the bicycle rider who died in a collision with a vehicle in Marana last week on Wednesday.
According to a report by the Marana Police Department, the incident happened on Twin Peaks Road and Camino De Manana at around 8:30 a.m. October 29.
Alexander and a commercial vehicle driver were stopped at a red light at the intersection when they both accelerated when the light turned green and crashed into into each other.
Police said Alexander died at the site of the crash.
The operator of the truck remained at the scene after the collision.
The accident caused the closure of northbound Twin Peaks Road as authorities worked to clear the scene.
The Marana Police Department is conducting an investigation into the collision.
