According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the accident was reported at around 12:15 p.m. on February 18 on Highway 178, east of Lake Isabella Boulevard.

Bakersfield, CA – The Kern County Coroner's Office has identified the female driver killed in a car crash on Highway 178 in Lake Isabella Tuesday afternoon as 62-year-old Donna Lynn Sulu of Lake Isabella.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the accident was reported at around 12:15 p.m. on February 18 on Highway 178, east of Lake Isabella Boulevard.
A preliminary investigation revealed an eastbound 2019 Subaru on the highway driven by Sulu was unable to safely negotiate a curve in the roadway. As a result, the Subaru traveled off the roadway and hit multiple roadway signs.
The Subaru then continued traveling in a northeasterly direction across both lanes and into the path of a westbound 2021 International, where the collision occurred.
Sulu was taken to Kern Valley Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the International had a complaint of pain in his back.
The highway was impacted for approximately three hours during the on-site investigation.
Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in this crash, according to CHP.
An investigation is ongoing.
