Diamond Bar, CA – One person was killed following a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 57 in Diamond Bar early Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash was reported at approximately 1:48 a.m. on the transition road from the northbound Orange (57) Freeway to the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway.
CHP said a white Chevrolet Tahoe SUV and a black Honda Civic sedan were involved in the crash. Authorities said the SUV reportedly struck the center divider following the crash.
CHP said an individual suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The medical examiner’s office identified the deceased party as Jose Gonzalez Gutierrez. Information regarding additional injuries was not immediately available. No arrests were reported.
California Highway Patrol officers and emergency crews responded to the scene to assist victims and conduct the on-scene investigation.
The collision caused major traffic disruptions in the area, prompting the issuance of a SigAlert at approximately 2:25 a.m. Authorities shut down the transition road for several hours while crews investigated and cleared the scene. The SigAlert was canceled, and the roadway reopened at approximately 7:57 a.m.
The exact cause of the fatal Diamond Bar crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
