Bakersfield, CA – The authorities have released the identity of a bicyclist who died after colliding with a car at the intersection of Olive Drive and Fruitvale Avenue on Thursday.
The Kern County Coroner's Office identified the deceased cyclist as Dennis Alan Scheideman, a 64-year-old Bakersfield resident.
Authorities said Dennis Scheideman ran a red light at the intersection and was hit by a car just after 6 a.m. on August 14.

Bakersfield, CA – A bicyclist was killed Thursday morning in a traffic collision in the Olive Drive Area of northwest Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly accident happened just before 6:00 a.m. on August 14 at the intersection of Olive Drive and Fruitvale Avenue.
CHP said a bicyclist failed to stop at a red light and continued onto Olive Drive, where they were struck by a car in the eastbound lane.
The bicyclist was killed in the accident. Their identity has not been released.
Alcohol and drugs were not factors for the driver. It was unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors for the bicyclist.
The CHP is investigating the accident.
