1 Killed in McKinleyville Motorcycle Crash on SR 200
McKinleyville, California (July 22, 2023) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a vehicle in McKinleyville on Friday afternoon, according to the authorities.
The wreck happened on SR 200 near Central Avenue and Highway 101 at about 12:42 p.m. July 21.
The CHP said Michael Ruiz, of McKinleyville, was driving a Nissan Rogue north on SR 200 when he pulled to the right shoulder, then tried to make a turn to travel southbound.
A northbound Yamaha motorcycle rider traveling behind Ruiz crashed into the left side of the Nissan.
The motorcyclist was rushed to Mad River Hospital, where the victim was pronounced deceased.
Ruiz was not injured in the incident.
Both sides of SR 200 were shut down following the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
