At Least 1 Killed in Highway 99 Crash south of Encinal Road near Live Oak
Sutter County, California (July 20, 2022) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly car accident involving a U-Haul van that happened Tuesday night near Live Oak in Sutter County.
The wreck was reported at around 9:48 p.m. on Highway 99, just south of Encinal Road, near the unincorporated community of Encinal.
According to CHP, a 2017 Savana GMC U-Haul van collided head-on with a Toyota Solara under unclear circumstances.
The van overturned onto its side in the crash. The occupants in the van were climbing out of the vehicle before first responders arrived.
Authorities said at least one person was killed in the collision.
Highway 99 was closed in both directions following the crash until around 11:53 p.m., when all lanes were reopened.
