David East Injured in Susanville Collision on State Route 139 near Termo Grasshopper Road

Susanville, California (October 9, 2022) – David East, 68, of Loleta, was among three parties injured when three vehicles collided in Susanville Friday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.

The incident took place on State Route 139, nearly five miles south of Termo Grasshopper Road, at around 8:13 a.m. October 7.

According to CHP, Brian Madison, 59, of Portland, Oregon, was driving south on SR 139 when he allowed his vehicle to swerve into the northbound side and crashed head-on with a vehicle operated by East.

Another northbound vehicle driven by Linda Hancock, 73, of Reno, Nevada, then collided with the back of East’s vehicle.

East was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Redding for treatment of cuts and possible broken bones.

Madison sustained chest pain and multiple cuts and was airlifted to a Reno medical center for treatment.

Hancock had a possible broken arm or wrist and was taken to Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville.

The California Highway Patrol is working to determine the cause of the accident.
