Lompoc, CA. — A man was critically injured Saturday afternoon when his vehicle crashed over an embankment near Lompoc, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and used Jaws-of-Life hydraulic tools to free the trapped driver.
The man was airlifted by a Calstar medical helicopter to Marian Regional Medical Center with major injuries around 1:41 p.m.
Santa Barbara County Fire, Lompoc firefighters, and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
Jalama Road was temporarily closed following the accident.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
