Riverside, CA – A 40-year-old man, identified as Cody McPhail of Winchester, was killed Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle near a Riverside intersection, according to the Riverside Police Department.
The incident was reported at approximately 5:21 p.m. on December 5, 2025, near the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Polk Street.
According to authorities, the crash involved one passenger sedan and one pedestrian. McPhail was transported to Riverside Community Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 6:01 p.m. despite lifesaving efforts.
Investigators say the driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with officers. Riverside Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team, along with the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner, responded to examine the circumstances of the fatal collision.
Preliminary information indicates that McPhail had been crossing Magnolia Avenue outside of the marked crosswalk when he was struck. Authorities noted that the sedan was traveling westbound on Magnolia Avenue and was passing through the intersection on a green light at the time of the impact. No arrests were made, and impairment on the part of the involved driver has not been reported.
