Jackson County, OR – One person was killed Monday afternoon in a car accident in Jackson County, according to the Oregon State Police.
The fatal accident happened around 2:18 p.m. on September 8 on Highway 99 near milepost 12.
Police said a Subaru Legacy was traveling southbound when it veered across the northbound lanes, broke through a fence, and entered the Rogue River. It quickly became submerged.
The Jackson County Search and Rescue Team responded and assisted with removing the vehicle from the river.
The Subaru driver, Cody Austin Jenkins, 26, of Gold Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
The police are investigating the accident.
