The Toyota driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries
Chualar, CA. – 16-year-old Itzel Martinez-Morales has been identified as the girl who died in a car crash on Thursday morning in Chualar, Monterey County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 8:28 a.m. on River Road south of Parker Road.
A 26-year-old King City man was driving a Toyota sedan northbound on River Road with a 16-year-old girl from Soledad as his passenger.
At the same time, a 47-year-old Soledad man was driving a Mercedes-Benz southbound.
For unknown reasons, the Toyota crossed over the solid double yellow lines into the southbound lane and collided with the Mercedes.
The Toyota driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries.
Martinez-Morales was riding in the Toyota and was killed in the accident.
The Mercedes driver was also taken to a local hospital with suspected major injuries.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
