At Least 1 Severely Hurt in Santa Ana Accident on Interstate 5 at Highway 55
Santa Ana, California (July 25, 2022) – At least one person sustained serious injuries in a Sunday evening multi-vehicle collision that happened in Santa Ana, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The pileup was reported at about 6:38 p.m. on northbound Interstate 5 over northbound Highway 55.
A black Jeep Cherokee, a red Tesla, and a black Audi SUV were involved in the collision, blocking the Nos. 1, 2 and HOV lanes.
Tesla Swerves Across Lanes, Hits Jeep, Audi in Santa Ana Accident
Reportedly, the Tesla swerved across all lanes and crashed into the other cars.
Airbags in the Jeep were deployed, and the door was open, but the driver was unable to get out.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and took at least one severely injured person to the hospital.
A SigAlert was issued briefly closing the Nos. 1, 2 and HOV lanes following the collision.
CHP is investigating the Santa Ana crash.
