San Diego, CA. – A child died and two others were injured Monday morning after a vehicle struck them in the San Carlos neighborhood of eastern San Diego, authorities reported.

The collision happened around 7:20 a.m. near Jackson Drive and Lake Badin Avenue, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Emergency crews responded and found three children injured.

One child died at the scene.

Another child suffered a compound arm fracture, and the third was hospitalized in unknown condition.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Police are investigating to determine the cause of the accident.
