Cheryl Morrell Hurt in Lassen County Motorcycle Collision on Highway 36 near Fredonyer Summit
Lassen County, California (October 10, 2022) – Cheryl Morrell, 43, of Westwood, was seriously injured when a motorcycle she was riding on as a passenger collided with another vehicle in Lassen County last Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place on Highway 36 east of Fredonyer Summit at around 4:49 p.m. October 3.
According to CHP, 42-year-old Bobby Stanfill, of Westwood, was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on Highway 36 he swerved across the double yellow lines at a curve and collided with an oncoming 2017 Kia Sedona driven by 40-year-old Ronald Mccart, of Antelope.
Stanfill and Morrell, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, were both ejected onto the roadway and they sustained major injuries.
The two were airlifted to Renown Medical Center in Reno for treatment. Stanfill had a shattered femur while Morrell sustained a compound leg fracture.
Mccart was unhurt and rendered aid to the injured motorcyclists.
Authorities said alcohol and drugs were not believed to have played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
