Douglas County, OR – The Oregon State Police has identified a motorist killed in a head-on collision on Highway 138 in Douglas County Wednesday morning as Carl Gregory Miller,38, of Eagle Point.
The incident happened at around 4:58 a.m. February 26, on State Route 138 near milepost 6.
A preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Ford Escape, operated by Miller, veered into the westbound lane of travel and collided head-on with a Kenworth Commercial Motor Vehicle driven by Grant Crossgrove,34, of Sisters.
The impact caused the Ford Escape to burst into flames
Motorists on the scene extricated Miller from the burning vehicle.
Miller was declared deceased at the scene.
Crossgrove was reportedly uninjured.
Fatigue was believed to be a possible factor in the crash.
The highway was impacted for approximately five hours during the on-scene investigation.
