Cajon Pass, CA – A motorcyclist died Friday afternoon in a traffic collision that happened on Interstate 15 south of the Cajon Pass switchbacks, the California Highway Patrol reported.

CHP received initial reports of a motorcycle and a rider down in the slow lane, and a water truck stopped on the right shoulder. Another caller reported that a car swerved to avoid a traffic collision, causing a motorcyclist to swerve to avoid the vehicle, but ended up colliding with a truck.
CHP officers and firefighters responded to the scene shortly after receiving the reports.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Coroner responded to the scene following the fatality.
Authorities did not immediately determine the cause of the crash or the sequence of events.
Multiple traffic lanes were closed while investigators worked the scene.
