Brian Madison Among 3 Hurt in Susanville Car Crash on State Route 139 near Termo Grasshopper Road

Susanville, California (October 9, 2022) – Brian Madison, 59, of Portland, Oregon, was airlifted to a hospital after being involved in a traffic collision in Susanville on Friday morning, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.

At around 8:13 a.m. October 7, Madison was driving a car southbound on SR 139 when he crossed into the northbound side and collided head-on with an oncoming car driven by David East, 68, of Loleta.

The crash happened nearly five miles south of Termo Grasshopper Road.

After the initial collision, East’s vehicle was struck from behind by a northbound vehicle that was being driven by Linda Hancock, 73, of Reno, Nevada.

Madison suffered chest pain and multiple cuts. He was transported by helicopter to a medical center in Reno.

Hancock, who suffered a possible broken arm/ wrist, was taken to Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville.

Medics transported East to Mercy Medical Center in Redding with cuts and possible broken bones.

No further details were released. The CHP is handling the investigation.
