Encinitas, CA.– A bicycle rider was hospitalized with major injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Encinitas on Wednesday evening, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
The incident took place near Encinitas Boulevard and Cerro Street just before 6 p.m. January 1.
According to the report, a Hyundai Elantra was traveling eastbound on Encinitas Boulevard when it hit a bicyclist in the roadway.
The bicyclist, a 45-year-old man, was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver, a 79-year-old woman, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The incident is under investigation.
