Bay Point, CA – A pedestrian was hospitalized after she was struck by a pole that was knocked down by a vehicle Wednesday evening near an intersection in Bay Point.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near the 3575 block of Willow Pass Road at Weldon Street, around 8:22 p.m. on April 15.
Authorities said a blue Mitsubishi struck a light pole in the area, knocking it down. The pole landed on a female pedestrian’s head who was standing nearby.
The vehicle then ended up on top of the downed pole.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to Kaiser Permanente Antioch Medical Center with a small cut to the head.
The car was towed away with major front-end damage.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
