Bakersfield, CA – The family of three people who died early Sunday morning in a fiery wrong-way collision on Highway 99 has identified them as a mother and her two daughters.
A GoFundMe account opened by the family identified the victims as Vanessa and her two daughters, Kloie and Kylie.
The accident happened around 12:45 a.m. on August 16, 2026, on southbound Highway 9 north of 7th Standard Road.
According to authorities, a Honda Accord, a BMW 530I, and a white Chevy Colorado collided in the southbound lanes. One of the cars was traveling the wrong way.
Vanessa, Kloie, and Kylie were inside the Honda, which caught fire and became fully engulfed in flames.
The three family members were pronounced dead at the scene. Vanessa leaves behind her son and Kloie, and Kylie leaves behind their brother, who will turn 16 on August 20.
According to their family, the trio was returning home from a concert after celebrating Kloie’s upcoming 17th birthday on August 20.
The 44-year-old man driving the BMW and his passenger were hospitalized with severe injuries.
Two occupants in the Chevy suffered minor injuries.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
