Bakersfield, CA – 3 People Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Harris Road Identified

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the fatal collision occurred on Harris Road at Summer Springs Drive at approximately 6:45 p.m. on April 22.

Bakersfield, CA – The three people who were killed in a multi-vehicle crash at an intersection in Bakersfield Thursday evening have been identified, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner identified the victims as Omar Zacarias, 49, Silvia Reyes, 51, both of Bakersfield, and 34-year-old Sandra Lee Slaydon, also of Bakersfield.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the fatal collision occurred on Harris Road at Summer Springs Drive at approximately 6:45 p.m. on April 22.

BPD said three vehicles, described as a silver Toyota SUV, a silver Ford SUV, and a silver Honda sedan, were traveling eastbound on Harris Road. The Ford and the Honda were at the intersection when the Toyota SUV, driven by Slaydon, rear-ended the Ford SUV at a high rate of speed near the intersection.  The impact caused a secondary collision with the Honda sedan, operated by

Zacarias and Reyes, who were occupants of the Ford, were pronounced dead at the scene. Slaydon was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Two men inside the Honda sedan reported complaints of pain. No arrests have been reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs were factors.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist victims and manage the situation.

The crash impacted traffic in the area as authorities conducted their on-scene investigation along Harris Road.

The incident remains under investigation by the Bakersfield Police Department.
