The fatal crash occurred at approximately 5:49 p.m. on Foresthill Road between Lincoln Way and Old Foresthill Road near Lake Clementine Road
Auburn, CA – Two people were killed, and another person was injured following a head-on collision on Foresthill Road near Auburn Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred at approximately 5:49 p.m. on Foresthill Road between Lincoln Way and Old Foresthill Road near Lake Clementine Road.
Investigators said the collision involved a silver Toyota Corolla and a silver Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. Preliminary findings indicate the Tacoma crossed over the double yellow lines and entered opposing traffic lanes, resulting in a head-on collision with the Corolla.
A driver, a passenger, and a child occupied the Corolla. Authorities said both adults inside the Corolla were pronounced dead following the crash. The child, who was properly restrained in a car seat, did not suffer serious injuries and was evaluated as a precaution. The Tacoma driver sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities said the driver was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The cause of the Auburn crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Emergency crews, including fire personnel, Placer County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and the coroner’s office, responded to the scene shortly after the collision was reported. Authorities also requested traffic control assistance and evidence tow trucks as investigators processed the crash site.
The collision caused major traffic disruptions in the area, with Foresthill Road closed between Lincoln Way and Old Foresthill Road for several hours while authorities conducted the on-scene investigation and cleared the roadway.
The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of family members.
The incident remains under investigation.
