At Least 1 Seriously Hurt in State Hwy 99W Crash near Corning

Corning, California (July 25, 2022) – At least one person was seriously injured when a truck and a sedan collided Sunday night in Richfield, near Corning, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The accident happened at about 9:50 p.m. on State Highway 99W, just south of Sonoma Avenue near Richfield Fire Station.

A maroon Ford F-150 and a Honda Accord were involved in the accident. The vehicles got wedged together.

An older male in the truck got out of the vehicle, but his son was trapped inside.

Firefighters responded to the scene and blocked all traffic lanes.

The firefighters helped the motorists, including one who sustained major injuries.

The roadway was reopened at 11:30 p.m.

CHP is investigating to determine the cause of the collision.
