According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at around 2:25 p.m. on Highway 20 near Highway 16.
Two vehicles collided head-on on the highway for unknown reasons.
One person was airlifted to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
It's unclear whether anyone else was hurt in the incident.
Both directions of Highway 20 were blocked as authorities worked the scene.
