Arcadia, CA – A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Arcadia Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal incident occurred in the eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway at Madre Street at approximately 9:31 p.m. Sunday.
Authorities say a pedestrian was attempting to run across lanes of traffic when they were hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound. A woman contacted the CHP and reported that she may have struck a person in the roadway, while another witness confirmed seeing the pedestrian being hit while crossing lanes.
The pedestrian was found in the slow lane and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased, and it remains unclear if any additional factors contributed to the crash.
Emergency crews, including the Pasadena Fire Department, responded to the scene and assisted in securing the area.
The crash prompted a SigAlert at approximately 10:45 p.m., shutting down all eastbound lanes at Madre Street and diverting traffic off the freeway. Partial lanes were reopened at 12:26 a.m. Monday, with all lanes fully reopened by 1:30 a.m.
The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
