Anita Acosta ID'd as Woman Killed in Federal Way Accident on Pacific Highway South

King County, WA – The King County Medical Examiner's  Office has identified the woman killed in a fatal crash on Monday morning in Federal Way as 50-year-old Anita Acosta.

The police and South King Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the collision at 9:26 a.m. January 13 in the 37300 block of Pacific Highway South.

A preliminary investigation revealed a semi-truck that was traveling northbound lost control and swerved into the oncoming southbound lanes, striking the Acosta's small SUV. A third vehicle was involved.

Acosta was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other people and a puppy were extricated from the vehicles and transported to local hospitals.

No further information about the mishap was available.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating to determine the cause of the crash.

The police said the victim was driving westbound on Boulevard when he lost control of his 2017 Ford Mustang and struck a westbound 2023 Honda Accord.

The Mustang then crossed over to eastbound traffic and struck a 2018 Toyota Highlander and Hyundai IONIQ6.

Debris from the collision struck a 2024 Hyundai , also traveling eastbound on Torrance Boulevard.

The 28-year-old man, the lone occupant inside the Mustang, was rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the Honda Accord was not injured. The driver and sole occupants of the Highlander and Hyundai were treated at the crash scene for minor injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The wreck remains under investigation.
