According to the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), in 2023, Anaheim reported 225 alcohol-involved fatal and injury collisions, placing the city 4th among similar California cities for this category, indicating a relatively high incidence of DUI-related crashes. Of these, 19 involved drivers under 21 and 109 involved drivers aged 21–34 who had been drinking, highlighting younger and young-adult contribution to impaired-driving collisions. Overall, Anaheim had 2135 total fatal and injury collisions, so alcohol-involved crashes accounted for a notable subset of serious crashes. The city also recorded 659 DUI arrests during the year, although its arrest count ranked 14th in its peer group, suggesting enforcement levels that may not fully align with the high number of alcohol-crash incidents. These figures underline impaired driving as a persistent traffic safety issue in Anaheim.
