According to the California Highway Patrol, a call was received about a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the eastbound 91 Freeway. Around 2:24 a.m. March 16, a collision happened involving the wrong-way driver and a CHP patrol vehicle at Gene Autry Way off the northbound 5 Freeway.

Anaheim, CA – Two California Highway Patrol officers were injured when their patrol car collided with a wrong-way driver early Monday morning on the 5 Freeway in Anaheim.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a call was received about a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the eastbound 91 Freeway. Around 2:24 a.m. March 16, a collision happened involving the wrong-way driver and a CHP patrol vehicle at Gene Autry Way off the northbound 5 Freeway.

Two officers sustained minor injuries. The officers were treated at the scene and released.

The wrong-way driver was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

Beer cans were reportedly seen on top of the wrong-way car after the crash.

No other details were available, but an investigation is ongoing.
