Desert Hot Springs, CA – The man who was killed in a fiery single-vehicle accident in Desert Hot Springs on Monday afternoon has been identified as Alvin Cunningham, 47, of Menifee, according to the County Coroner’s office.

The deadly accident was reported at around 1:45 p.m. on September 8 on Interstate 10 at the Indian Canyon Dr. off-ramp.

CHP said the vehicle driven by Cunningham exited the off-ramp for unknown reasons and drove onto the barrier wall. The vehicle caught fire, and Cunningham sustained multiple traumatic major injuries.

Reportedly, Cunningham was pulled out and taken to a trauma center nearly an hour later, where he was pronounced dead.

The CHP is investigating the accident.
