Alberto Flores Killed in Head-On Accident on Highway 97 at Milepost 256 in Okanogan County
Okanogan County, WA – The Washington State Police has identified a man killed in a head-on collision on Highway 97 in Okanogan County early Friday morning as Alberto Martinez Flores, 43, of Brewster.
The crash happened at around 4:20 a.m. January 17 on State Route 97 at milepost 256.
According to a preliminary investigation, a Honda Accord driven by Flores collided head-on with a southbound Chevy Silverado, operated by Jonathan Husong of Tulsa, Oklahoma, in unclear circumstances.
Husong’s truck then struck a third vehicle and a nearby guardrail. Neither he nor the driver of the third vehicle were injured.
Flores was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say Husong was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the crash occurred, and are treating the incident as a vehicular homicide.
The highway was impacted for approximately three hours as officers investigated the crash site.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
