San Diego County, CA. – According to the San Diego County Department of Medical Examiner, 33-year-old Akash Kasibhatla died after he was struck by a vehicle on New Year’s Day in Cardiff-by-the-sea.

Before the accident occurred, California Highway Patrol Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting a man walking across the interstate.
Authorities said shortly after the reports, a Toyota sedan traveling on I-5 transitioned towards the Birmingham Drive off-ramp and hit the pedestrian.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and found Kasibhatla with fatal injuries.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:27 p.m. His city of residence was not known.
Authorities are investigating the collision.
