The fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:37 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2026, on Palmdale Road, also known as State Route 18, east of Richardson Street.

Adelanto, CA — A 71-year-old Adelanto woman was killed after a semi-truck crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with her Chevrolet Silverado on Palmdale Road Tuesday morning, according to the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:37 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2026, on Palmdale Road, also known as State Route 18, east of Richardson Street.
According to investigators, a 60-year-old semi-truck driver was traveling eastbound on Palmdale Road when he lost control of the tractor-trailer. The semi crossed into the westbound lanes and collided with a westbound Chevrolet Silverado.
The Silverado driver was identified as 71-year-old Dianne Thomas of Adelanto. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities have not determined why the semi-truck driver lost control and entered the opposite lane. No arrests were reported in the information provided.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. Investigators are seeking witnesses who may have information about the collision.
Both vehicles came to rest off the north side of Palmdale Road along the westbound side of the highway. The crash caused extensive damage to the Silverado and significant damage to the semi-truck, while debris was scattered across the roadway and surrounding desert area.
Palmdale Road/SR-18 was closed in both directions between Richardson Road/White Road and Aster Road while authorities investigated the fatal collision.
The fatal Adelanto crash remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team.
