San Diego, CA. – A 6-year-old boy died Saturday evening in a hit-and-run crash in the Chollas Creek neighborhood of San Diego, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The collision happened around 6:50 p.m. near the intersection of University Avenue and 54th Street.
Police said the child was crossing the street when a vehicle hit him and drove off without stopping.
Emergency responders transported the boy to a nearby hospital while performing CPR, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities described the suspect's vehicle as a possible two-door Honda Civic.
A Sig Alert was issued around 7:45 p.m., closing University Avenue between 54th and 58th streets for several hours as investigators processed the scene.
San Diego PD is investigating the incident.
