East County, CA – The San Diego County Medical Examiner has released the name of a 53-year-old motorcyclist who died after colliding with a vehicle on La Cresta Road in El Cajon on April 8.

The Medical Examiner identified the victim as Sammie Lee Benjamin, 53, of El Cajon.

The deadly accident happened on La Cresta Road, west of Coyote Ridge Lane, at about 5:10 p.m. on April 8.

Preliminary information indicated that Sammie Benjamin was riding a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound in the 2300 block of La Cresta Road when a Kia sedan entered the roadway from a residential driveway along the south side of the road and initiated a left turn maneuver crossing the pathway of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle crashed into the left side of the Kia and Benjamin was ejected onto the roadway. Benjamin was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital when he was pronounced dead.

East County, CA: A 53-year-old El Cajon motorcyclist died Monday after crashing into a car in the East County community of Crest, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man was riding a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on La Cresta Road, west of Coyote Ridge Lane, about 5:10 p.m. on April 8 when he crashed into a Kia Forte that had turned left from a driveway in front of him, as per the CHP.

The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike and suffered major injuries. He was rushed to a hospital where he died.

The driver of the, a 37-year-old El Cajon woman, was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
