A Nissan was reportedly backing out of the driveway when it struck a girl who was standing behind the car with a 33-year-old man
Elk Grove, CA – A 3-year-old girl was struck and killed by a vehicle at a driveway in Elk Grove on Sunday afternoon.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 3:44 p.m. September 7, on Point Pleasant Road.
A Nissan was reportedly backing out of the driveway when it struck a girl who was standing behind the car with a 33-year-old man.
The Cosumnes Fire Department crews responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures on the child, before rushing her to a hospital.
Despite efforts by the medics, the child succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Authorities said the 29-year-old woman who was driving the sedan stayed at the scene and was not suspected to have been impaired.
The accident remains under investigation.
