Two Men Hurt in Yakima Collision on West Washington Avenue

Yakima, CA.– Two people were injured in a collision in Yakima on Tuesday morning, according to the Yakima Police Department.

The incident took place in the 2800 block of West Washington Avenue at about 8:24 a.m. on April 1.

According to the report, a 39-year-old Yakima man was driving a 2008 GMC Sonoma pickup truck westbound on West Washington Avenue when he drifted into the oncoming lanes and collided head-on with a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The driver of the Sonoma was trapped in the wreckage and was rescued by firefighters.

Medics performed life-saving measures on the driver before rushing him to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital.

The driver, who was in critical condition, was later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The driver of the Ford, a 60-year-old Yakima man, was transported to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities reported that drugs were suspected to have played a role in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
