The three passengers of the Kia were taken to the hospital for treatment

Salinas, CA. – Two people were killed in a wrong-way crash in Salinas on Sunday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 6:49 p.m. on Highway 101 near Chualar River Road.
A 41-year-old Salinas man was driving a white Kia SUV northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 when he collided head-on with a black Honda sedan driven by a 46-year-old Arizona resident.
A white Toyota sedan driven by a 29-year-old Salinas resident was also involved in the accident.
The drivers of the Kia SUV and the Honda sedan died at the scene.
The three passengers of the Kia were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Monterey County Sheriff's Office did not publicly disclose the identities of the victims pending notification of the next-of-kin.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
