University City, CA.- Two teens on a bicycle were hurt when they were hit by a vehicle in University City on Wednesday evening, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The incident took place on Genesee Avenue at about 4:55 p.m. January 29.

According to the police, a 39-year-old man was driving a 2016 Mazda 3 north on Genesee Avenue when he made a left turn on a Highway 52 on-ramp and was struck by a southbound bicycle.

The 16-year-old boy riding the bike was transported with a fractured femur while his passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was treated for abrasions.

Alcohol was not suspected to have played a role in the incident, police reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
