, AZ.– Two people sustained major injuries in a motorcycle collision in west Phoenix on Sunday night, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Authorities responded at around 8:15 p.m. November 9, to the accident in the area of 51st Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

Two people were riding on a motorcycle that was involved in the crash with a car near the intersection.

The two riders, a man and a woman, were both transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A woman and a child in the car were evaluated at the scene and were not transported.

The intersection remained closed as authorities worked to find out the cause of the collision.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
