Police Investigate Deadly Long Beach Pedestrian Accident on Bellflower Blvd

Long Beach, CA. — A 19-year-old woman died days after being struck by a car in a Long Beach parking lot earlier this month, authorities announced Tuesday.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. on November 2 near a parking lot in the 2200 block of Bellflower Boulevard near Stearns Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police said Grace Edwards, of Long Beach, was walking in the area when she was struck by a 2015 Lexus IS250 driven by a 39-year-old Long Beach resident.

The driver was reportedly backing out of a parking stall when the collision occurred.

Paramedics treated Edwards at the scene and took her to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries on November 5.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.

Investigators believe distracted driving played a role in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
