One Killed in Fresno Accident on Elm Avenue near North Avenue

Fresno, California (May 23, 2022) – A man died in a suspected DUI accident early Monday morning near Fresno, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At around 2:45 a.m., a 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling northbound on Elm Avenue at a high rate of speed when it collided with a big rig that was driving out of a private driveway onto North Avenue.

The man driving the Marquis was killed in the accident.

No other injuries were reported.

CHP said the driver of the Marquis was suspected to have been driving under the influence of alcohol.

The collision caused a closure of Elm Avenue as crews cleared the scene.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
