Riverside, CA. – One person was killed in a car crash that left two others injured in Mecca near the Cactus Rest Area on Wednesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on eastbound Interstate 10 at around 7:01 a.m.

A Tesla Model 3 was traveling eastbound when it was rear-ended by a Kia Forte traveling at a high rate of speed.

A female passenger of the Kia was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Tesla and the driver of the Kia were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for their moderate to major injuries.
