1 Dies, 1 Critically Injured in San Bernardino Crash on Base Line Street near D Street
San Bernardino, California (May 27, 2023) – One person is dead and another was hospitalized following a three-vehicle crash that happened on Saturday morning in San Bernardino.
According to the San Bernardino Police Department, the accident happened at around 10:45 a.m. on Base Line Street near D Street.
A Dodge Ram truck and a BMW coupe were traveling eastbound when the Dodge tried to pass the BMW.
The maneuver was unsuccessful and the Dodge clipped the BMW on the side. The Dodge then collided head-on with an oncoming minivan, with the impact sending both vehicles through the fence and into the front yard of a home.
The minivan driver was transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
A passenger in the minivan was hospitalized in critical condition.
The BMW driver was unhurt and remained at the accident scene and cooperated with the authorities.
The Dodge driver reportedly fled the scene on foot and was yet to be located.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
