Hayward, CA. – A pedestrian died after being struck by a car on Monday night in Hayward.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 9:55 p.m. near Jackson and Santa Clara streets, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 68-year-old Hayward man was walking in the area and was struck by a car.
The unidentified man was transported to the hospital where he died while receiving treatment, according to the Alameda County Coroner's Bureau.
The 55-year-old Hayward man driving the car was found inside the same vehicle a short distance from the scene.
The driver provided a statement and was released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
