An off-duty nurse performed CPR on the unconscious driver of the GMC Sierra, who died at the scene

Kings County, CA. – One person was killed in a car accident in Hanford early Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on State Route 43 south of Idaho Avenue.
A 49-year-old Hanford woman was driving a white 2023 GMC Sierra pickup truck south on State Route 43 when she drifted into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a  white 2019 Ford Fusion driven by 35-year-old Corcoran man.
The collision sent both vehicles onto the east shoulder of State Route 43.
The driver of the Ford Fusion was injured and was transported to Adventist Health hospital in Hanford.
An off-duty nurse performed CPR on the unconscious driver of the GMC Sierra. Sadly, the driver succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
The collision resulted in the closure of the north lane of State Route 43 for about one hour.
More details about the accident were not available.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
