1 Dies, Another Hospitalized After Highway 97 Crash near Dorris in Siskiyou County
Siskiyou County, California (February 15, 2023) – One person died, and another was hospitalized after a traffic collision involving a pickup truck and a big rig Wednesday morning near Dorris in Siskiyou County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported at around 5:19 a.m. on Highway 97.
The vehicles collided under unclear circumstances, blocking the roadway and leaving car parts in traffic lanes.
Cal Fire responded and pronounced one occupant of the pickup truck dead at the scene. The firefighters also transported the driver of the pickup truck by ground ambulance to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
Caltrans also responded to the scene to help with traffic control as police and firefighters worked the scene.
It was not clear if the big rig driver was injured.
Authorities are investigating to establish the cause of the accident.
