Merced, CA. – One person was injured in a rear-end crash involving a suspected drunk driver near Franklin in Merced County on Monday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened just after 7 p.m. on Ashby Road south of Beachwood Drive.

31-year-old Andres Zepeda-Lopez of Atwater was driving a white sedan southbound on Ashby Road when he rear-ended a black sedan directly in front of him.

The driver of the black sedan suffered minor to moderate injuries in the accident but declined medical treatment.

Zepeda-Lopez was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI causing injuries.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
