Monroe, WA – Authorities are investigating an incident where a pedestrian was hit and killed by a train on Friday evening in Monroe.

According to the Monroe Police Department, the incident took place in the 20300 block of U.S. 2, just east of Old Owen Road on Saturday, October 10.

A man was reportedly struck by a train on the railroad tracks under unclear circumstances.

Monroe police reported that the victim was declared deceased at the scene. He was only identified as a 53-year-old man.

No other injuries were reported in the incident.

The Monroe Police Department and the Burlington Northern Railroad are investigating the circumstances of accident.
